A simple guide to viewing your CCTV system from your phone 

This guide walks you through downloading the Hik-Connect app, creating your account, viewing live cameras, watching recorded footage, saving clips, and managing notifications. 

Your system will be added remotely by WaveTech Southwest - no passwords required.

 

 

 

 

Downloading the Hik-Connect App & Creating an Account 

 

Download the App

iPhone (App Store): Search for Hik-Connect - for End User

Android (Google Play Store): Search for Hik-Connect - for End User 

Make sure you select the official Hikvision app. 

Create Your Account 

  • 1. Open the app and tap Register. 
  • 2. Choose to sign up using your email address or mobile number. 
  • 3. Enter your details and create a secure password. 
  • 4. Enter the verification code sent to you. 
  • 5. Log in using your new Hik-Connect account.

 

Important: Do Not Add a Device Yourself 

  • Once your account is created do not press the "Add Device" button in the app. 
  • WaveTech Southwest links your CCTV system to your account remotely. 
  • Send Us your  username you used to create your Hik-Connect account: email or mobile number. 
  • We will then securely share your CCTV system to your Hik-Connect app. 
  • Your cameras will appear automatically once this is done and you accept the share.
  • You Do Not Need to share your Hik-Connect password with us.

 

 

 

 

Watching Live Camera Feeds

  • 1. Open the Hik-Connect app and log in. 
  • 2. Tap the Home tab. 
  • 3. Your CCTV system will appear under Devices. 
  • 4. Tap the device name to open your cameras.
  •  5. Select any camera to view it live. 
  • 6. Rotate your phone sideways for full-screen viewing. 

 

Useful Live View Controls

  • Snapshot: Save a still image.
  • Record: Save a short video clip to your phone.
  • Audio: Turn sound on/off (if supported).
  • Quality: Switch between Fluent (faster) and Clear (higher quality).

 

 

 

 

Watching Recorded Footage (Playback) 

  • 1. Open the camera you want to view. 
  • 2. Tap Playback at the bottom of the screen. 
  • 3. A timeline will appear showing recorded footage. 
  • 4. Drag the timeline left or right to find the time you want. 
  • 5. Pinch-to-zoom on the timeline for more precise control. 

Playback Tips

  • Grey/blue bars = recorded footage
  • Tap the calendar icon to jump to a different day
  • Pause, rewind, or fast-forward as needed

 

 

 

 

Downloading Footage to Your Phone

 

You can save important clips directly to your mobile. Hik-Connect allows you to download up to 5 minutes of recorded footage at a time.

Method 1- Record Your Own Clip (Manual Start/Stop) 

  • 1. Go to Playback for the camera you need. 
  • 2. Move the timeline to the start of the event. 
  • 3. Tap Record to begin saving the clip. 
  • 4. Tap Record again to stop. 
  • 5. The clip is saved to your Hik-Connect Gallery. 

 

Method 2 - Use the Download Button (Up to 5 Minutes) 

  • 1. Open Playback for the camera.
  • 2. Move the timeline to the start of the footage you want. 
  • 3. Tap the Download icon (downward arrow). 
  • 4. Start and end markers will appear on the timeline. 
  • 5. Drag the markers to select the section you want - up to 5 minutes maximum. 
  • 6. Tap Download again to confirm. 
  • 7. The clip will save to your Hik-Connect Gallery. 
  • 8. From the gallery, you can export the clip to your phone's camera roll.

 

 

 

 

Saving a Still Image

  • Tap Snapshot during live view or playback. 
  • Images save to the same Hik-Connect gallery

 

 

 

 

Turn Notifications On/Off 

  • 1. Open the Hik-Connect app. 
  • 2. Tap More (bottom right). 
  • 3. Select Notifications. 
  • 4. Toggle Enable Notifications on or off.

 

 

 

 

Per-Camera Notification Control 

  • 1. Go to Home -> tap your device. 
  • 2. Select the camera you want to adjust. 
  • 3. Tap Settings -> Notification. 
  • 4. Choose which alerts you want to receive. 

 

 

 

 

Do Not Disturb Mode If you want alerts during the day but not at night

 

  • Go to Notifications -> Do Not Disturb and set the times you want notifications paused.
