Starlink Relocation & Whole‑Home WiFi Upgrade in Batcombe
This week we completed a clean Starlink and WiFi upgrade for a client in Batcombe. Their Starlink router was originally sitting on the bedroom floor, so we relocated the full kit neatly into the loft, keeping everything out of sight and properly mounted.
The client had been using powerline adaptors to extend their WiFi, but was experiencing the usual problems — drop‑outs, low speeds, and unstable performance, which are common with powerline systems. To fix this properly, we installed two WiFi 7 dual‑band UniFi access points, positioned in the centre of each section of the home for maximum performance.
Equipment Installed:
- WiFi 7 dual‑band UniFi access points
- Ruijie cloud‑managed PoE switch
- Fully hidden cabling
- Ceiling‑mounted access points for best signal spread
- Starlink router and power equipment relocated into the loft
Signal Performance:
All WiFi signal levels across the property are now ‑65 dB or better.
Because WiFi signal strength is measured in negative numbers, a lower number (‑50, ‑60, ‑65) means a stronger signal. A higher number (‑70, ‑75, ‑85, ‑90) means a weaker signal.
Once WiFi signal rises above ‑70 dB, speeds typically start to drop and the connection can become
unstable — especially for streaming, video calls, and smart devices.
With the new access point layout, the client now has:
- Full coverage throughout the entire property
- No dead zones
- Strong speeds from the Starlink system
- All equipment hidden away for a clean finish
Result:
A tidy, high‑performance Starlink and UniFi setup delivering fast, stable WiFi everywhere in the home — with all hardware discreetly installed and cloud‑managed for ongoing reliability.
